Get ready to sit back and relax during your next transatlantic trip, Virgin Atlantic has just upgraded its Upper Class cabin and unveiled The Retreat Suite. This interior refinement coincides with the introduction of the new Airbus A330-900neo to the airline’s fleet.

The Retreat Suite is a new standard of seating that can be found within Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class Cabin. The two exclusive seats — situated at the front of the cabin — are the most spacious ever to be found on a Virgin Atlantic flight. The seat fully reclines to a flat bed with 6ft7” of space, while the colossal 27” touchscreen will feel like you have gone to the movies.

Each seat includes the latest Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging in addition to an ottoman that can also be used as an extra place to sit. This function allows four people to sit, dine and chat together adding a new level of social to skyfaring.

“Our desire to create memorable experiences means we’ll continue to imagine with fresh ideas,” said Corneel Koster, chief customer and operating officer at Virgin Atlantic. “We care about every detail of the cabin design and every step of our customer’s journey.”

Virgin Atlantic ordered 16 A330neos in 2019 as part of a decade-long major investment, revitalizing their fleet to be one of the youngest and therefore eco-friendliest in the sky. The new A330neos are 11% more fuel efficient than the aircraft they are replacing.

“The A330neo plays a significant role in our multi-billion-dollar fleet transformation, demonstrating our commitment to the planet,” continues Koster. “We know the most impactful thing we can do as an airline is to fly the cleanest, greenest, youngest fleet possible and the A330neo is integral to achieving this goal. It’s truly a plane for the future.”

Alongside the spacious Retreat Suites, the A330neo will also include 30 new Upper Class suites. The suites come equipped with a fully closing privacy door, passenger-controlled mood lighting a 17.3” screen that will have the flight time enjoyably passing by.

It’s not just The Retreat Suite that has added social capabilities, The Loft is an area of the Upper Class cabin with four seats and space for eight people. It comes equipped with its own self-service fridge and drinks dispenser and dual panoramic 27” touchscreens.

The new fleet’s first route is expected to be between London Heathrow and Boston Logan airport with the inaugural customer flight to Boston taking place in early October.
